Montville & The Sunshine Coast

More scenic drives and country towns the next day with a short tootle from Maleny to Montville, a beautiful little place dedicated almost entirely to home-made fudge, gift shops, chocolate shops and Devonshire Teas, yum!

There was even a specialist Cuckoo Clock shop. Benny said, 'I bet it's noisy in here at 12 o'clock!'.

We enjoyed the sweet shop, Candy Addiction, which had a sweet making demonstration and free sampling afterwards.

Montville used to be called Razorback (I bet not many people used to go there then!) and when you look down, you can see why. It is right along the ridgeline and has dramatic views like this on both sides.

And with all those hills, of course there had to be a waterfall, so we proceeded to go for a nice bush walk (well, I thought it was nice) to Kondalilla Falls National Park, I suppose the kids had a right to complain, I told them it was a 40 minute walk, but I think I read something wrong, because it was actually about an hour and a half, oops! Oh well, everyone needs childhood memories of being dragged on boring bush walks by their parents, it's the rules.

Then the next day, as I had had two days of shops and green rolling hills, it was time to relieve the boredom for Benny and Naomi (and Alex) and return to the coast. We spent the day in Bulcock beach in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. The swimming there is fantastic, it is so unique. The day we arrived the weather was perfect and the water was a gorgeous 24 degrees, so that always helps but it was fab! Basically, you jump in the water at the flag, within two metres of the beach, it is probably about a metre deep, and at 4 meters out, it was over my head. But, you just get in, and because the current flows completely sideways, you just pick up your feet and float along to the other flag. Then at the flag everyone jumps out, runs back along the beach to the other flag, and then jumps back in again - crazy! It was like some kind of man made attraction, I have never seen anything like it before, it was so much fun that even I didn't want to get out, never mind the children!

Here's Caloundra beach, with the kite surfers in the background, they were very cool to watch.

I was very excited, as the next day we were going to the famous Eumundi Markets - how do I get Alex to agree to these things? I don't know, he must love me very much;)
