Bordeaux Delights

After Saint Emilion we drove another 40 minutes to the busy and thriving metropolis of Bordeaux, what a contrast!

We had a day and a half in the city, of mostly wet weather which was a bit of a shame, but it didn't not put too much of a dampener on things (and of course we got to use our I Love Paris umbrellas again, which is always a bit of a thrill;). We managed to visit yet another Cathedral, a beautiful church, The Bordeaux Museum of Decorative Arts (haha, managed to hustle the family into there before they really realised what was happening;), then a bus trip of the city and the next day, two hours of shopping for me, and a visit to the golden arches for the rest if the Skinners, followed by an afternoon at the fun fair!

Phew, not a bad effort!

Eglise Notre-Dame - so beautiful.

Cathdrale Saint-Andre - it was magnificent, in a dark and gothic way.

Two sleepy cherubs.

Musee Des Beaux-Arts - I am so sneaky.

All the fun of the fair - they were so happy! The candy floss came, surprisingly, with a choice of eight different flavours, and look at the size of it - that was the petite!

Left Bordeaux this morning and now we are in a small town on the coast called Arcachon, where the largest sand dune is Europe is situated (thanks Amy for the travel advice) so more on that as and when it happens.

Also, we had a little episode at the campsite this morning which involved the van, about 40cms of sloppy gooey rain drenched mud, a lot of wheel spinning and a tow truck, but I am sure Mr Skinner will regale you with the finer details. Oh dear - it is certainly an adventure!
